Prof Harris Short SUNSHINE STATE To Screen @ Three Festivals
In the month of April, Professor Christopher Harris is screening his new movie SUNSHINE STATE (Extended Forecast) at the Experiments in Cinema Film Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the European Media Art Festival in Osnabruck, Germany and the Athens International Film and Video Festival in Athens Ohio. Nick Briz Films Playing Toronto & Athens Fests
Nick Briz has landed two of his original short films in festivals. He writes:
My film From The Ground Up In Order, Embrace will be playing at the Images Festival / 21st Festival In Toronto Canada on April 3-13 (my film plays April 7th). Attempting to strengthen my relationship with the digital medium I decided to create a video out of binary code. Binary code is a system of ones and zeros at the core of everything digital, it is the foundation. The result was an entirely new form of exploring digital’s natural aesthetics.
Here’s what the festival wrote about the piece: “An indisputable argument for the healing properties of colour; also the reason why rock n' roll and video are here to stay. A digitally apocalyptic vacuum reminiscent of Zack Morris' sweater.”
Another film of mine, Binary Self-Portraits will be playing at the Athens Int’l Film & Video Festival which takes place at the end of April. This video came immediately after my previous “binary piece” (From The Ground Up In Order, Embrace) which was made entirely out of binary code. I made these self-portraits by altering the binary code beneath the footage. I developed, as a result, an esthetically systemized method of file corruption.
