Home Movie Day was initiated by The Center for Home Moives and is celebrated in over fifty cities worldwide. The Center for Home Movies is a registered not-for profit organization supported through grants and donations. CHM’s primary mission is to promote, preserve and educate the public about amateur films.

Check out this PSA for Home Movie Day:

"Saving our film heritage should not be limited only to commercially produced films. Home movies do not just capture the important private moments of our family's lives, but they are historical and cultural documents as well. Consider Abraham Zapruder's 8mm film that recorded the assassination of President Kennedy or Nickolas Muray's famously vibrant color footage of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera shot with his 16mm camera. Imagine how different our view of history would be without these precious films. Home Movie Day is a celebration of these films and the people who shot them. I urge anyone with an interest in learning more about how to care for and preserve their own personal memories to join in the festivities being offered in their community..."

Film Festival Update

Nick Briz's film RGB Exposé got accepted to the Artists' Television Access 3rd Annual Film & Video Festival in San Francisco. Nick's film will be a part of their storefront video installations for the month of October.

This piece (RGB Exposé) is a sort of instigated dialogue between analog video and digital video. It was my attempt at separating the two distinct mediums, which might sometimes get lum
ped together, by exploring their dynamics and juxtaposing their individual properties

In other film festival news UCF Alum Mike Bendeck's short film Cronofobia will be screening at the XIX Latin American Film Festival Spain and Portugal. Here's a synopsis of the
film: Two narrators tell the story of diffrent patients that live in a non conventional mental institution. All of them suffer from time related problems. Some relive dramatic moments of their lives and some create a world of hate or love towards the idea of time.

ALUMNI - Drew Blatman Unveils Sunset Television

UCF FILM alumni Drew Blatman, director of such charming FIVE STORIES weirdness as MR. MALIKAI BATTLES THE AEROPLANE  and RANDOLPH GENTLY & THE MYSTERIOUS ANIMALS, has created an online TV show - Sunset Television.  This show is quite different from his previous stuff, having more of a wacky 1970s, indie spirit like Kentucky Fried Movie. But it leaves one smiling just the same so check it out.
