Harris continues fest streak at FIDMarseille!

Congratulations to Associate Professor Christopher Harris, whose film 28.1V.81 (Bedouin Spark) is going to screen at the international film festival FIDMarseille in France next month. Bedouin Spark will be screened between July 7 and July 12, showcased in the PARALLEL SCREENS section of the festival.
FIDMarseille invites a new time into filmmaking, welcoming the exhibition of experimental film on a grand scale. Films that create paths of astonishment which meet the eyes and ears of adults as well as those of children with an equal desire for discovery and comprehension of reality.
Testimonies, film artists, essays, fictions... Rare or totally unpublished films that will awaken the look of the youngest ones to a movie that plays itself beyond the borders and does to live in a multitude of cultures and expressions.

UCF Documentary Capstone Film Wins National Award
June 7, 2010--The Wind Beneath Our Wings is the winner of a bronze Telly Award in the national competition’s TV/Documentary Category. The film was directed by UCF Film graduate Corey Frost (2010) and produced as a community project for the 2009-2010 Capstone Documentary Class. "I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all those who helped make this project a success,” said Frost. “Working with the Florida Audubon Center for Birds of Prey was a great experience, and to win an award like the Telly is just the icing on top.”
Frost and his classmates produced the fifteen-minute documentary for the Audubon Center’s 30th Anniversary Gala Celebration. The film contained archival footage provided by Audubon, plus new interviews and other footage collected during the Fall 2009 term of the Documentary Capstone course. Students had approximately six weeks to shoot and edit the film. They received a standing ovation when it screened during the November Gala, held at UCF’s Fairwinds Alumni Center.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
“Winning is a great honor for these students, because only about ten percent of the thousands of entries take home a Telly,” said Dr. Lisa Mills, who teaches the Documentary Capstone course. “Community partnerships like this are a win-win for everyone involved.”
“The success of this film not only showcases our crew's hard work, but also the impact University of Central Florida's Film Program has on its students," said Frost.
