Sundance at Enzian

2012 Sundance Film festival
comes to Orlando
Orlando, Fla. - (Sept. 28, 2011) – Enzian joins a lineup of nine hand-picked art house theaters from across the country to participate in the 2012 Sundance Film Festival USA program, an event that sends officially selected Sundance films and their filmmakers to play before audiences in distinguished independent venues nationwide.
Other participating theaters include New York’s BAM, Boston’s Coolidge Corner Theatre and Nashville’s The Belcourt.  This will be the third year of the initiative and the 2012 event will take place Thursday, Jan. 26.
As part of Sundance Film Festival USA, held the second Thursday of the Sundance Film Festival, filmmakers will travel from Utah to the nine cities, courtesy of Official Airline Sponsor Southwest Airlines. In each city, the filmmaker will introduce and screen their film and participate in a Q&A with the audience. An introduction video featuring highlights from the Festival will precede each screening.
“Every year, our goal with the Sundance Film Festival is to make it an extraordinary event for those who attend, and with Sundance Film Festival USA, we’re bringing the Festival experience to independent film lovers nationwide,” said John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival. “In many cases, those audiences feel a connection to independent film because of the year-round work of their hometown theatres. Sundance Film Festival USA shows both our gratitude to these theatres for their contributions to the independent film community as well as our support and commitment to helping them grow their existing audiences.”
“Enzian has fostered a unique and passionate film-going community that’s developed over the past 26 years and we’re thrilled Sundance has acknowledged their importance as discerning independent cinema supporters,” said Henry Maldonado, President of Enzian.  “We look forward to bringing this event, a national salute to new voices in cinema, to Orlando.”
Film selections will be announced in December and tickets will be available for purchase on www.Enzian.org.

The 2012 Love Your Shorts Film Festival (LYSFF) will be held February 10-12 at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in downtown Sanford, Florida.

The LYSFF screens only short films under 30 minutes in length. Films are divided into different blocks for screening. Audience members at each block vote for their favorite film and winners are announced on the spot.

The winning films from each block advance to a final block for a panel of judges to pick the overall festival winner. Winners of each block earn cash prizes and the festival’s award, the “Monroe,” an original piece of metal artwork named after Sanford’s Lake Monroe.

Other events during the festival will include an opening night party, time for filmmaker networking, and a filmmakers panel.

“I really enjoyed LYSFF. It had a wonderful community feel and everyone involved was clearly passionate about the art form. Sanford is a beautiful town and it serves as a perfect setting for such an event.” – Charles Frisby, Director of 2011 LYSFF Official Selection “The Hard Road”
