Attention Literary, Visual, and Performing Arts Majors and Minors! ArtsBridge UCF wants you!
ArtsBridge UCF pairs university students with a major or minor in the literary, visual, or performing arts with a local K-12 school teacher to create a hands-on, interdisciplinary arts residency in which UCF students enhance the K-12 curriculum by teaching students through the arts. ArtsBridge is a 0-3 credit internship or independent study for sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Freshman and sophomores are encouraged to apply to be an ArtsBridge apprentice (0-1 credits).

UCF Film is Merging with the School of Visual Arts & Design
In a message from the Interim Department Chair, Stephen Schlow, UCF Film makes an important announcement about its future:
This fall, the Film Department will begin to merge with the College of Arts & Humanities’ School of Visual Arts & Design. This is an exciting opportunity to combine the significant work of the Film department with the disciplines of fine art, digital media, photography, and architecture. With the addition of Film, the School of Visual Arts & Design (SVAD) has approximately 2,052 undergraduate majors and 54 graduate students, with a combined faculty of 66 talented individuals. SVAD offers classes on UCF’s main campus, as well as downtown at UCF’s Center for Emerging Media and at UCF’s Daytona campus. We expect the merger to be complete by the end of spring semester 2013.
For you, the impact of this merger will be minimal. Most of you will notice little change.
Kia Hollingsworth will still be the Adviser for Film majors and minors, although her office will now be located in VAB 115. Her phone number and email address will remain the same (407-823-0525; nikia.hollingsworth@ucf.edu) . You may be able to take courses in the School of Visual Arts and Design that were previously closed to you. Check with Kia to see if these might be of interest.
The Film Equipment Room will still be managed by Jon Bowen and, of course, the fine faculty will still be in place and their office locations will remain the same.
A recent BFA Film alum, Monica Barberousse, will join us in the main Film office, still located in the Nicholson School of Communication Building, Room 121.
This will be an exciting time for all of us and I look forward to your work, your continued commitment, and to the possibilities this merger will create for all of us.
Stephen Schlow
